Welcome to the Sorrento Junior Football Club
Welcome to the Sorrento Junior Football Club (SJFC) – Aussie Rules junior footy at the pointy end of the Mornington Peninsula.
Club History
Sorrento Junior Football Club is proud to be part of the wider Sorrento Sharks football family on the Mornington Peninsula — a region with a long, community-driven footy tradition. The senior Sorrento Football Netball Club traces its origins back to 1890, with documented local football being played in Sorrento from the early 1900s.
As the junior pathway, SJFC exists to give local kids a competitive, fun and welcoming introduction to Australian Rules Football — and to help them grow into confident players, teammates and community members. The club also places a strong emphasis on wellbeing and child safety, living by the message: “Be safe. Feel safe. Play safe.”
SJFC is based at the AFL/Cricket facilities at David MacFarlan Reserve, home to both the senior and junior football clubs. In recent seasons the club has continued to grow strongly — with 195 registered junior players across 11 boys and 4 girls teams during the 2025 season, plus around 50 Auskick participants, reflecting the strength of footy in our local community.

As we continue to build and preserve the history of the Sorrento Junior Football Club, it’s important to acknowledge the many volunteers, families and supporters who have helped protect the stories and achievements of the hundreds of young players who have proudly worn the Red & White.
Our club history is very much a work in progress. With records spanning many years, there may be moments we miss, details that are incomplete, or stories still waiting to be told. We appreciate your understanding — and more importantly, we invite your help.If you have old photos, team lists, memorabilia or memories, we would love to hear from you.
If you can share a story or help fill in a missing chapter, your contribution will help ensure our club’s history is captured and passed on to future generations.Reconstructing the history of a junior football club is both rewarding and challenging, but it’s a journey best taken together — as a community.
